How to set up an Assetto Corsa server with AssettoServer

AssettoServer runs Assetto Corsa freeroam, cruise and AI traffic servers. You set up the track, cars and sessions in Content Manager on your PC, and the server runs them. Here's how.

Freeroam and cruising, not races

AssettoServer is made for freeroam, cruise and traffic servers. Races and qualifying aren't supported yet.

Bring your track and cars

  1. Set up a preset. In Content Manager, open Server and set up a preset with your track, cars and sessions.
  2. Press Pack. Content Manager makes a .zip holding cfg and content, with each car's data.acd: the data files the server needs from cars and tracks you have.
  3. Upload it. In your dashboard, open Files & SFTP and upload the zip to world-imports: up to 96 MB in the browser, or bigger over SFTP. Upload one pack at a time.
  4. Restart the server. When the zip shows Passed safety scan, restart the server. The pack's cfg files replace the server's, and its cars and track join the ones in content.

The server name, passwords, ports and listing still come from Settings. Until you upload a pack, the server runs Imola with Abarth 500s.

Settings

  • Server name, shown in the server list and Content Manager.
  • Join password, if you want one.
  • Admin password: type /admin and the password in chat for kick, ban, weather and time. A random one is set until you choose yours.
  • Public listing, which puts the server in Assetto Corsa's server list.

AI traffic, plugins and other options

AssettoServer's options, AI traffic among them, are in cfg/extra_cfg.yml, which opens in the Files tab's editor; cfg/reference/extra_cfg.reference.yml lists every option. AI traffic needs a track with AI splines. Restart the server after a change.

AssettoServer's standard plugins are installed: turn them on in extra_cfg.yml. Your own plugins go in plugins/, and every file passes a safety scan first.

How players join

Players need Assetto Corsa on PC with Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch 0.2.0 or newer, and the same cars and track as the server.

With Public listing on, they find your server in Content Manager's online list. Otherwise they add it in Content Manager by the Content Manager address on your dashboard: your server's address with its HTTP port.

The console

The dashboard console sends AssettoServer's admin commands, so you can kick and ban players and change the weather and time without joining.

Can it run races?

Not yet. AssettoServer is made for freeroam, cruise and traffic servers.

Do you provide cars and tracks?

No. Your Content Manager pack brings the data files the server needs from cars and tracks you have, and players need the same ones installed.

Which address do players add in Content Manager?

The Content Manager address on your dashboard: your server's address with its HTTP port, ready to copy.
