Skyrim Together guide

How to set up a Skyrim Together Reborn server

Skyrim Together Reborn puts your party in the same Skyrim. A dedicated server stays online, so your party can meet whenever they play, without one player running the server on their PC. Here's how to set one up with Warp Hosting.

What every player needs

  • Skyrim Special Edition or Anniversary Edition on PC.
  • Skyrim Together Reborn from Nexus Mods, installed as its Nexus Mods page describes, on the same release as your server.

Set up your server

  1. Order the server. Choose Skyrim Together, the location closest to your party and a plan. Skyrim runs on each player's PC, so the Starter plan suits a party of up to 8.
  2. Set the passwords. A Join password keeps the server to your party. An Admin password is optional: a player who joins with it instead of the join password gets admin rights. Password boxes never show a saved password.
  3. Choose the player slots. Player slots go up to 32, but the mod is made for parties of 2 to 8 and more can desync.
  4. Choose who can find it. Public listing puts the server in Skyrim Together's server list; with it off, players connect by its address.
  5. Save and restart. Press Save configuration and restart the server. Settings take effect at the next start.

Gameplay settings

  • Difficulty, from Novice to Legendary, for every player.
  • PvP, Skyrim Together's multiplayer death system, and the share of gold players lose when they die.
  • Time scale: in-game seconds for every real second (Skyrim's default is 20).
  • Party options: joining the party automatically, shared combat XP, synced player homes and NPC greetings.
  • Synced calendars, which the mod's team doesn't recommend: they can upset quest timing.

Play with the same mods

Players can use other Skyrim mods. To make sure everyone has the same ones, copy loadorder.txt from a PC with the mods everyone plays with (it's in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Skyrim Special Edition, or in your Mod Organizer 2 profile's folder) and upload it to Data in Files & SFTP. When it shows Passed safety scan, turn on Mod check in Settings and restart the server. Players whose mods don't match are refused.

Allow SKSE and Allow Mod Organizer 2, both on at first, decide whether players using Skyrim Script Extender or Mod Organizer 2 can join.

How players join

Players start Skyrim through Skyrim Together Reborn and connect to the connect address from your dashboard, or find your server in the server list with Public listing on. They enter the join password, or the admin password for admin rights.

Saves and updates

There's no shared world to back up: each player's progress is in their own Skyrim save, as in single player, and the server keeps the party together while you play.

With Automatic updates on, each start takes the newest Skyrim Together server release. When the mod updates, restart the server and have every player update too.

Skyrim Together questions

Good to know.

Can PlayStation or Xbox players join?

No. Skyrim Together Reborn is a PC mod, so every player needs Skyrim on PC.

How many players can join?

Up to 32, set by Player slots, but the mod is made for 2 to 8.

Why can't a player join?

Check that they're on the same Skyrim Together release as the server and, with Mod check on, that their mods match the loadorder.txt you uploaded.
